In this blog post, I will walk you through the possibilities of how to make money with AI, particularly in the field of printable flashcardsWe'll go through a journey, from brainstorming ideas within seconds to finalizing a professional-looking product. And don't go anywhere; there's a secret I'll share on how to outshine your competition and boost your earnings.

How to Use AI to Make Money | Enter the World of Printable Flashcards for Kids

In today's digital age, knowing how to leverage AI can be your key to a passive income stream. Printable flashcards is one of those methods. Flashcards are an enjoyable method for kids to learn by correlating pictures to their respective words. Topics can range from animals, shapes, numbers, colors, and much more. A simple Etsy search for "printable flashcards" reveals a significant demand for the product and surprisingly low competition. The sales trend of this product is also rising, making this the perfect time to enter this market.

On Etsy, vendors sell flashcards in a wide variety of niches and styles.

The possibilities to profit from this idea are nearly endless, and I'll show you how to generate unique ideas in just a few clicks.

A steady influx of reviews for these products indicates strong sales. Some sellers are making around $6K monthly, and their total sales since store inception exceed $200K. Other sellers are making around $2K per month, with overall sales above $70K. If you manage to find nichhes where the competition is low, your path to sales will be even smoother.

This product, for instance, has 4,568 reviews with 19 printable flashcards.

While ranking on Etsy requires some work, strategy and patience (just like on Amazon), creating 19 extremely high-quality flash cards requires less than a day.

Creating 19 cards like the below actually requires 1 hour but, once again, you are leveraging AI to make money, you are not leveraging AI to cut corners.

So, your goal is to create a badass product, not to work at light speed.

In 1 day you probably can create 500+ flash cards: the first hours are dedicated to learn the process, find the right Midjourney Prompts and become faster.

Then, you can start creating a ton of amazing flashcards one after the other.

With very simple calculations, you can see that these cards turned over at least $17k.

And remember that a very small percentage of the buyers leave a review.

Just as books, CDs, videos and courses, flashcards can become assets that generate passive income in autopilot (If done well and with the right technique to rank high in the store).

How to Generate Ideas for Flashcards

To get started, you need to come up with unique and engaging ideas for your flash cards. There are several ways to do this:

Manual Research: Start by exploring existing listings on platforms like Etsy. Study your competitors' offerings, including the number of cards, styles, images, product descriptions, and titles. This research will help you understand what works well in the market and give you insights into how you can create something better. Also, you can use tools like Etsy Hunt (Freemium), Alura.io, eRank to scrape Etsy and find the holy grail: the sweet spot between demand and offer.

Automated Idea Generation: Another effective method is to use AI-powered tools like chat GPT. With chat GPT, you can generate a list of flash card ideas specific to your chosen niche. For instance, if you want to create flash cards focused on animal learning, simply ask AI to provide you with ideas in that niche. You will receive a variety of suggestions, such as animal names, animal sounds, and baby animals, which can serve as inspiration for your own unique designs.

I use both: my preferred method on top of keyword search, involves asking AI. You can easily generate flashcard ideas within any specific niches. For example, in the animal niche, you can get ideas about animal names, sounds, baby animals, and more.

Once you have your product idea, the next step is turning this concept into a tangible product. This journey starts with creating the flashcard illustrations.

There is also another way to get information from Artificial Intelligence, which is asking Perplexity.ai. Perplexity can access the web, it works more like a search engine, and with the right question, it can give you very interesting results.

Remember: you need to find the demand first and then you can create the product.

As you can see, I also asked about something "trending", if possible.

I don't necessarily want to create something that is already on Etsy, I want to create something that stands out.

Now, always remember we are doing flashcards for kids: we don't want to traumatize them!

So, for instance, climate change could be slightly present in the background and in the prompts for Midjourney: we want to educate kids and create simple, fun cards that will have 1 picture and 1 word. That's it: let's keep it simple. Flashcards will only have 1 word.

Create Illustrations Using AI

To create illustrations using AI, my top recommendation is Midjourney. I consider Midjourney the best AI image generator available currently, given its array of customization options and superior image quality. On top of that, it's cost-effective and offers commercial rights to use the images with its $10 plan.

The key to generating AI images is writing the "prompt" effectively. This involves three sections: subject, style, and customization. Let's say we want to create an illustration of a puppy.

In our case, the subject of the prompt will be "a dog",or "a cat", or "a pig".

For the style, there are various options like cartoon style, hand-drawn style, and oil painting style. For kids' illustrations, a Disney cartoon style works well.

However, there are a lot of styles you can use and even combine, to make sure your flashcards are truly original.

Meanwhile, let me give you some ideas.

For customization, I prefer to add "white background" to the prompt, which I plan to remove later. Repeat this process until all illustrations are complete. Then we move on to the most exciting part: designing the flashcards.

For this example, I am trying simple prompts and see what happens if I combine 2 styles.

And here are some of the results.

In just a few seconds, I can create a variety of characters. This would have cost me hundreds of dollars and took me weeks, before AI.

Designing the Flashcards with Canva

Canva is a fantastic tool to design printable flashcards for free. It offers a variety of flashcard templates you can modify to suit your needs. Just upload the illustrations created in Midjourney and select a template that fits your niche.

You can replace the illustration, change the word label, adjust the size of the illustration, and more. Repeat this process until you complete all flashcards.

To remove the background, you can sign-up to Canva PRO or you can use Remove.bg: a free tool to remove the background from images in 1 click. And it works amazingly!

On Canva, simply select a cool font that is readable, clear and kid-friendly.

Create the primary card, which includes the illustration and the word combined.

However, you need to create two more versions: one with only illustrations and the other with word labels. Once complete, save the templates as a PDF print.

The Secret Sauce: FREE Extra Value

Looking at the competition, you'll see that everyone pretty much does the same thing. They all offer a bundle of flashcards. However, to differentiate yourself on Etsy, consider offering something extra for free.

Here's where the secret comes in. Offering coloring pages in the same niche as the flashcards is an excellent way to provide additional value. You can generate these coloring pages using Midjourney or another alternative like Leonardo.ai.

When potential customers see that you offer high-quality flashcards and coloring pages as a gift, they are more likely to make a purchase. This marketing technique is quite common in retail, and you may have noticed it while shopping.
